Smith Haughey Welcomes Attorney Natalie H. Winquist

Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge is pleased to announce that attorney Natalie H. Winquist has joined the firm’s Grand Rapids office. Natalie’s practice focuses on medical malpractice defense litigation, and she represents hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers throughout the state of Michigan at all stages of litigation.

Prior to joining Smith Haughey, Natalie worked as an attorney advisor with the Illinois Pollution Control Board. In her role as a Board attorney, Natalie gained experience adjudicating complex matters involving alleged violations of the Illinois Environmental Protection Act and helped to develop and implement environmental control standards for the state. While undoubtedly a different area of law, Natalie’s experience handling environmental matters allows her a unique ability to handle complex experience has allowed Natalie the ability to take on medical malpractice.

Natalie earned her J.D. from Western Michigan Cooley (WMU) Law School, magna cum laude. During that time, she served as a law clerk for Hon. George J. Quist and as a prosecutorial intern in the Criminal Division of the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office. Natalie also served as the Managing Resource Editor for WMU Cooley’s Law Review, served as a teaching assistant for torts and Federal Civil Procedure, and is a recipient of WMU’s Leadership Achievement award.
