Smith Haughey Obtains Treble Damages for Client - SHRR V2

Smith Haughey Obtains Treble Damages for Client

Smith Haughey recently obtained a decisive victory for our client, a widow, who sought recovery of assets that belonged to her deceased husband but had been taken by his ex-wife from a prior marriage in violation of their divorce decree.

Not only were the assets awarded to our client, but the probate judge ordered treble damages because of the fraudulent nature of the ex-wife’s actions, making the total award more than $500,000. The Michigan Court of Appeals affirmed the decision, solidifying the victory for our client. Attorney Dave Bossenbroek obtained judgment for our client at the trial court level and attorney Chris Berry handled the appeal.
