Attorney Bill Jack Named “Lawyer of the Year”

Grand Rapids, Mich., March 24, 2017 — William W. Jack, CEO and shareholder with Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge, has been chosen for Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s 2017 Lawyer of the Year.

Smith Haughey is thrilled to be led by this year’s Lawyer of the Year, an honor chosen by the current class of Leaders in the Law nominees via secret ballot. Bill was honored with the award during the annual Michigan Lawyers Weekly Leaders in the Law luncheon, which was held on March 23. . The list of Leaders in the Law consisted of 30 top attorneys who practice in Michigan.

“Look, there are 29 other people and dozens more in this room who deserve this every bit as much as I do. Thank you so very much. Having said that, I’m keeping it,” Jack said upon receiving the award.

Bill has been practicing law for 45 years and has a reputation as a seasoned trial attorney, with devotion to both the legal and local community. In his response to a Michigan Lawyers Weekly questionnaire, he expressed appreciation for “a number of mentors who were willing to take the time to teach me and others how to practice with quality and, just as importantly, professionalism and civility.”
